Kim pulled onto their street and let out a sigh of relief. It had felt like it had taken forever to make the drive home this time, and the last few hundred feet felt like it took years before she made it to the driveway. Pulling into the garage, she shut the car off and slumped back into her seat.

Part of her wanted to run inside, throw her arms around him and never let him go. But she was pretty sure she would probably end up a sobbing mess and she didn't want him to think she wasn't happy about the news she was about to tell him. The tears were already brimming just from the relief of being home.

Gathering her purse, she paused suddenly as a wave of nausea passed. That was gonna take some getting used to. Taking several deep breaths as she waited for the feeling to pass, she exhaled slowly as she tried to gather herself before she went inside.

Kevin heard the garage door open from upstairs and started heading down. His phone buzzed, checking his notifications he noticed Scott had texted that Maddy was home. Finally, both of them were home and safe. He was about to open the garage door again when his phone buzzed again. His brow creased, congrats? Congrats about what?

Giving herself a mental pep talk, Kim got out of the car and hit the button to close the garage door behind her as she opened the door to the house, nearly running into Kevin as she came through the door. She let out a startled gasp, having not expected him to be right at the door. There was so much she had planned to say and do. And things she had planned not to do. But seeing him in the flesh, she defaulted to what she had promised herself she wouldn't do as she dropped her purse to the floor and wrapped her arms tightly around him. Burying her face in his shirt, she tightened her hold on him as hot, silent tears rolled down her cheeks.

He was just sliding his phone back into his pocket when the door open and Kim wrapped herself around him. But this was not an I missed you hug, it was hurt and desperate. “Shhhh,” he murmured, kissing the top of her head as he wrapped his arms around her. “What's wrong Sugar?”

Ugh. She needed to pull it together. He really shouldn't see her like this. Gently shaking her head against his chest, she finally mustered the ability to speak, her voice only cracking towards the end. “I really missed you. Just a bad time at work and I'm glad I'm home.”

“I'm glad you're home too,” he smiled, gently rubbing her back and holding her close.

Melting into his embrace, Kim closed her eyes as she relaxed against him. This is what she had needed for the past two days. She wanted to tell him the big news, but not when she was upset.

He hugged her tightly. “You hungry or did you get food at work?”

“I'm not hungry.” She answered softly. She was still really nauseous and the mention of food wasn't helping. The last thing she wanted to do was have to run to the bathroom to be sick.

“Ok,” he nodded. “Shall we move out of the hallway and to a piece of furniture?” he asked with a small smile.

Kim nodded in response, but didn't loosen her grip from around him. She didn't want to let go of him, even to move to another room.

He chuckled softly as she tightened her grip instead of moving. “Fine, we’ll do this the hard way,” he whispered in her ear before picking her legs up to straddle his waist. “Where do you wish to go?”

“Anywhere.” She said as she shifted so she could wrap her arms around his neck to hold on as he carried her, and buried her face into his neck. “I just want to cuddle with you and never let you go again.”

“Works for me,” he smiled, turning around and heading down the hallway towards the stairs. She was not hungry, it was close enough to bedtime, seemed the perfect place to go.

The motion of turning around, along with the sensation was more than her stomach could handle, and she tapped his arm. “Sorry...need down.” She said urgently.

“Ook..” he set her down confused.

“Sorry,” she apologized again as she made a beeline for the bathroom, barely making it before her stomach fully revolted. This was going to force her to tell him sooner rather than later.

“Sugar… you ok?” he followed her in and rubbed her back.

“Peachy.” she mumbled. “Kinda...queezy.”

“Obviously, can I get you a ginger ale?” he asked.

“Yeah, that’d be great.” She nodded. “Thank you.”

Kevin nodded and headed to the kitchen to get a ginger ale from the fridge. As he shut the door, the pieces fell into place in his brain. “I’m an idiot..” he shook his head as he hurried back to the bathroom. “Are you pregnant?”

Sighing, Kim nodded slowly. “Yeah.” She replied softly. “I was gonna tell you in a much better way. But obviously my stomach had other ideas.”

Kneeling down next to her he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. “This is fantastic.. I mean not that your sick.. But you know what I mean,” he chuckled.

Kim chuckled for the first time in a while. “I do know.” She said as she leaned into him, thankful her stomach had grown quiet once more. “I think I’m good to move again.” She said, giving him a small smile.

“Ok,” he said helping her up and pulling her into a deep kiss. “I love you, “ he held her close to him. “Want me to carry you to bed? Want to sip at the ginger ale?”

“I love you too,” she said after returning his kiss. “And to answer your multiple questions. Yes.” She chuckled. “Bed first, then ginger ale.” She said, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.

“Ok, you carry the ginger ale and I’ll carry you,” he kissed her forehead.

“Deal.” She nodded as she shifted and took the soda from his hand, wrapping her other arm tighter around his neck. “Thank you.”

“Anything for you,” he smiled, picking her up and heading slowly for the bedroom. “We need to get you to a doctor.”

“I am a doctor.” She chuckled as he carried her up the stairs. “We can get all that scheduled soon. Right now, I just want to be home and be with you.”

“That’s true, you are,” he chuckled. “How far along do you guess?”

“Not too far.” She replied. “I think around 5 weeks. They won’t even schedule an appointment until 8 weeks.”

“Ok..” he nodded. “I don’t know if I can wait 3 weeks,” he laughed, laying her down on the bed. Taking the soda from her he set it on the table before kissing her lips deeply.

Kissing him back deeply, she pulled him into her. “Well you’re gonna have to.” She grinned as she broke the kiss momentarily.

“I dun wanna,” he whined dramatically, rubbing her side softly.

“Still have to.” She teased before kissing him softly. “There’s going to be a lot of just waiting over the next eight months, so better start getting used to it now.”

“I suppose,” he rolled his eyes and sighed as over the top as he possibly could.

“Now, on the other hand, I haven’t been home for almost three whole days, I’m tired, and I don’t know when I’m gonna get sick. So if you want to do anything before I throw up or pass out, you better not wait.” She chuckled.

“If you don’t feel well I’m fine with snuggling you until you fall asleep,” he said, brushing some hair away from her temple before kissing her chin gently.

“I could use a distraction from the past few days.” Kim replied with a grin as she pulled him in for a gentle kiss.

“Yes ma’am,” he grinned, kissing her deeper and crawling into bed with her.
